For the next two weeks, I will be working in Leeds. My transport expenses will be paid-for. I have two options, car or train.
The train goes from Oxford Road, and to Leeds station, adjacent to where I will be working. It takes an hour each way. Quick & easy, but a little more difficult to buy food.
The car involves driving to/from Leeds, which takes a little over an hour with no traffic. I will, though, also have the car for the next three weekends. Annoying & slow, but convenient, as I hate relying on public transport.
What do we all think?

Normally I would be for the car all the way. However, public transport means no parking hassle, no morning rush hour driving into Leeds hassle and you can read and de-stress on a train more than you can driving. Reading while driving is a pain unless someone is there to turn the pages for you.
Take the train, you will love having all that time to read, even if it is rpg books! I used to commute by train and I miss it.
Having had to drive into Leeds during the day and spending 45 minutes driving round the "City Loop" trying to find the address I was looking for (and thus actually missing the meeting I'd driven over there from Liverpool for), I would without a single doubt suggest going by train.
I agree with the above, and would add that Spuddy used to work in Leeds and driving there made him homicidal. Choo choo!
I live here.. Leeds City Centre is hell at Rush hour. 50min by train or 1.5 hours min plus gotta park too.
Far far better to do train.
Also you are welcome to dinner 1 evening- I'll pick u up and drop u off at station too. M.x

If transport expenses are paid for then I'd say car definitely (as they'll pay for parking I guess).
Trains tend to be equal parts smelley weirdo, eco warriors and ignorant people.
I'd much rather sit in a traffic jam and listen to my own music as loud as I like rather than stand up on a train to leeds, and I've done that morning journey many times and it'll be standing all the way if you are leaving after 7.30am.
Just think of all the reading you can do while on the train! Some nice views too, en-route.
The train. Trains are fun..Mind you, Leeds can also be fun. You can Lunch in Harvey Nicks!
Anyway, travelling by train is more environmentally friendly!

Lunch is laid on.
I *may* need to locate a decent greasy spoon in case the provided lunch is overly-posh. | |
